INSTITUTE OF PAPER, PRINTING AND PUBLISHING

CERTIFICATE COURSE 2004/2005

The IP3 Certificate course is specifically designed as an introduction to the paper, printing and publishing sectors.

This programme will benefit everyone working within these industries as well as newcomers and those who wish to gain basic knowledge in all three areas.

The programme covers a wide range of topics imparting basic knowledge of Paper, Printing and Publishing. The course will be run in modular form over ten days (one day every week) and will be taught in London, Leicester and Huddersfield. It is also expected that IP3 will extend this programme to be taught in Scotland and Ireland. The course is designed to give participants an overall view of all three sectors from a practical as well as an academic level. There will be conducted visits to a Paper Mill, a Paper Testing Laboratory, a Printer and a Publishing House or related company. These visits will allow the student to experience a flavour of the workings in all three areas.

Students are assessed continuously during the programme and this approach will be carried out using observation, question and answer, and will include short written assignments to ensure maximum understanding and benefit for the participant. The course will be conducted in a supportive learning environment and is suitable for both new and mature adult learners.

On successful completion of the programme, students will be awarded the IP3 Certificate. With this certificate, the student will gain automatic entry to IP3 at AIP3 grade. This qualification is recognised throughout all three industry sectors.

This course will be run three times a year, commencing in October 2004.
February 2005; June 2005; and October 2005. The cost is £950 and includes tuition, assessments and certification, and all conducted visits. Places for the courses will be limited to ensure optimum benefit for the participant.
